an arm of the Mediterranean Sea between Greece and Turkey, located in southeastern Europe. Aristotle was born in a town on the northwestern shore of the Aegean Sea and later spent two years on Lesbos, an island in the Aegean, engaged in the study of natural history, especially marine biology.
