the hero, portrayed by William Boyd (1895 - 1972), of scores of American Western movies made between 1935 and 1948. In 1948, a TV series called Hopalong Cassidy was originated in New York which used edited versions of the movies. Between 1949 and 1951, a new series of TV films was made which ran on national television.
