(69 b.c. - 30 b.c.), Queen of Egypt. With the aid of Julius Caesar she revolted against her younger brother and won the kingdom, although it remained subservient to Rome. She later became mistress of Caesar, returning to Egypt only after his murder. Her forces were defeated by the Roman forces of Augustus in 31 b.c. See also Augustus and Caesar in this glossary.
