CORRIGAN, WRONG-WAY-TO

CORRIGAN, WRONG-WAY-TO
ScnMaster
Douglas Corrigan (1907 - ), American aviator. In 1938, when he was refused permission for a flight across the Atlantic, he filed a flight plan that said that he was going to fly from New York to Los Angeles but flew to Ireland instead. Afterwards he said that he had misread his compass (even though he had been flying for 12 years) and, being above the clouds, had not realized that he was not headed for California. —PDC Volume 4 Approved Glossary
