course. A dogleg is a
sharp angle or bend like that formed by a
dog's hind leg.
Golf fairways, the mowed parts between the tees (the starting
points) and the
greens (the areas of closely cropped grass surrounding the holes) to which the golfer hits the
ball, are often in such a shape. Used figuratively in this lecture.
