a theater located approximately five blocks from the White House in Washington, DC. It earned notoriety on April 14, 1865 as the place Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865), sixteenth President of the United States, was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth (1838–1865). In 1968 the theatre was made into a Lincoln museum containing various items related to Lincoln's life and death.
