FORECASTLE (1)
ScnMaster
the upper deck of a ship in front of the foremast (the mast nearest the bow of a ship). This space is sometimes used to store food, clothing, or as quarters for sailors. It derives its name from the fact that in old sailing warships there used to be a castle built at this spot from which archers fought. (DIAGRAM) —PDC Volume 4 Approved Glossary
