the standards by which a person compares something to form an attitude, make a judgment or analysis, etc. For example, in the frame of reference of a truck driver, rain might just mean bad driving conditions, while for a farmer, in his frame of reference, rain means good crops. —9th ACC Volume 1 Approved Glossary
