a country in north-central Europe which came under the political control of the Nazis (people belonging to the National SocialistGerman Workers' Party) in 1933, with Adolf Hitler as dictator from 1933 to 1945. In alliance with Italy and, later, Japan, Nazi-controlled Germany entered into a large-scalewar with many other nations of the world, which came to be called World War II.
