a
theory concerning giant "brains" (the
controlling or guiding
mechanism in a
computer, etc.). In 1948, this
theory evolved into a new
science called
cybernetics which is concerned with simulating the human
brain in a variety of functions, creating machines that, in some senses at least, are able to think and learn and respond "humanly" to a wide variety of situations.
