a kind of naval gun invented and produced by Benjamin Berkeley Hotchkiss (1826 - 1885), American inventor and maker of military weapons. These guns, which were made for one-, three- and six-poundprojectiles, were first made for the US Navy and later became part of the standard armament of most of the world's navies.
