1. Leslie Keeley (1834–1900), American physician who established an institute for the treatment of alcoholics in Dwight, Illinois, in 1879, which lasted into the 1960s. Keeley considered alcoholism a disease and invented a "treatment" called the Gold Cure for Drunkenness, consisting of injections of a chemical compound containing gold. Within ten years Keeley had become a millionaire from selling his "gold cure" and Keeley institutes opened in every US state and in many foreign countries. 2. a reference to Leonarde Keeler.Leslie E.
