MARCONI

short for the Marconi Telegraph Company, founded in 1897 by Guglielmo Marconi (1874–1937), an Italian inventor and electrical engineer. Marconi's most famous invention is the wireless telegraph, the forerunner of present-day radio, which he developed in the 1890s.
