(military)short for Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, a unit formed by Major Andrew Hamilton Gault in Ottawa, Canada in 1914. They were named after Princess Patricia, the daughter of the Duke of Connaught (1850 - 1942) and granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth of England.
