(1) energy peculiar to life which acts upon material in the physical universe and animates it, mobilizes it and changes it; natural creative energy of a being which he has free to direct toward survival goals, especially when it manifests itself as useful, constructive communications. The term comes from the Greek letter theta (_), which the Greeks used to represent thought or perhaps spirit. The broad definition of theta as used in Scientology is thought, life force, Elan vital, the spirit, the soul. (2) the mathematical symbol for the static of thought.
