ZEN BUDDHISM

ZEN BUDDHISM
ScnMaster
a Buddhist sect in Japan. It originated in India and differed from most schools of Buddhism in disregarding the sacred books and in emphasizing self-knowledge and introspection (examination of one's own thoughts and feelings). Zen teachers will sometimes resort to a sort of "shock therapy" where they strike a pupil to startle him into understanding. See also Buddhism in this glossary. Future Org Trends Approved 4.3.91
