a heavily occluded case characterized by mental pictures consisting o f masses of blackness. The term black five came from application of a process wherein the auditor tested the preclear at each step of the process to find a step the preclear could do and began processing at that step. A preclear who had to be started at Step V of the process was called a "Case V." This level of case could not get mock-ups but only blackness.
